Pharmacy practice is the discipline of pharmacy which involves developing the professional roles of pharmacists. The practice of pharmacy requires excellent knowledge of drugs, their mechanism of action, side effects, interactions, mobility and toxicity. At the same time, it requires knowledge of treatment and understanding of the pathological process.

Mission

The Department seeks to achieve excellence in the education and training of Pharmacists ,equipping  pharmacy graduates and post graduates to meet  the present and future pharmaceutical healthcare needs of the country in all spheres of pharmacy,viz……communities /retail, hospital ,industry, academic and research development and  indicates to prepare highly qualified graduates capable to apply the pharmacy practice in compliance with global standards and conducts innovative research and scientific studies in basic and applied pharmaceutical sciences.

Pharmacy Practice

The department of pharmacy practice also co-ordinates several distinct services to assist qualified practitioners and enhance the health of both hospitalized and ambulatory patients as well as training professional students.

  • Prescription auditing

The continuing professional educational program offers current, practice enhancing professional educational programs for pharmacist and other health professionals.

Head of the Department message

The pharmacy practice department is comprised of a group of women and men dedicated to providing the best environment for pharmacy education.
We demonstrate this commitment through our teaching, research and clinical service activities.
The department is primarily responsible for the clinical education of students.
Faculties maintain practices at SVS medical college and hospitals in Mahaboobnagar.
Our clinical faculty has established collaborative relationship with faculty in the department of medicine for a number of general and specialty clinics, the department of Psychiatric, Orthopedic, Gynecology Obstetrics and department of pediatrics.
The center for drug information and evidence based practice is housed with in the department supports drug information services affiliated with the SVS medical college and hospitals.

Goals and objectives

The doctor of pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree is earned by those who have had the class room and experiential education necessary to prepare them for broad based general clinical practice. The following professionally specific and general ability based outcomes have been endorsed by the pharmacy faculty for all SSRCP Doctor of pharmacy graduates.

The student shall contribute to the data base of information about the patient by

  • Performing a medication history, review of systems and physical assessments.
  • Recommending and interpreting laboratory tests.
